Just the Fax, Ma’am, Just the Fax

If you are having a difficult time reaching your prospect by phone or email, the fax machine is still a great approach. You can do some very creative things with your fax cover sheet. List specials you are running, add great graphics and send fun messages. However, you must always keep in mind who is on the receiving end. Make sure that whatever you are sending is a good fit for who they are.

Get-In-the-Door Fax

Send a fax to your prospect specifically addressed to them. The front of the fax reads, "I have information that will benefit you, but I’m not certain how best to approach you."

The second page of the fax reads:

“Please check one and fax back to ___________.

  • Send some information to me that I can file on my desk with other things I might get to.

  • Come in unannounced and sit in my waiting room, hoping I have time for you. When I’ve ignored you long enough, go away.

  •  Leave me several messages on my voicemail daily so that I can delete them as I drive home.

  • Call and make an appointment. Tell my assistant I said I wanted to hear from you. Then I promise you exactly five minutes, and you’d better have something I need or cannot continue do business without.”

Make sure your fax number is at the bottom of the fax as plain as day, in BIG numbers, easy to read and easy to find. It’s off the wall just enough to get noticed, remembered, and add a chuckle to someone’s day. (from 101 Ways to Get Your Foot in the Door)
